Urban landscape project involving the study of the current use of land and urban pros and cons: overlooking of the site onto the railway, under-developed corner of the neighbourhood, working-class area in need of investment of its urbanscape, for instance. The brief includes the rehabilitation of the site full of potential to support the flourishing local community and to improve the urban context.
Initial phase of scheme incorporating the council’s rejuvenation plans for the area and ideas for the thriving neighbourhood. Convergence of architecture and landscape to create various dynamics, rhythmically interesting, at garden scale and a positive new community meeting point.
The site is located in an area in need of urban and architectural upgrading. The neighbourhood has a great deal of potential and a young vibrant community in need of space for creativity and flourishing. The proposed design allows for flexible use and growth for the users within their neighbourhood.
This work was the initial phase in a study of a neighbourhood. As a first step into the area, the design and research was lead in a group of three students.

Medium/large scale multi-purpose project in a dense urban setting. Final phase of revitalisation scheme of the area. Two steps project: Initial group work to determine a balanced scheme of housing, offices, shops and external community space; followed by individual work focused on social housing, the site’s environment and the neighbourhood’s landscape.
Social housing developed alongside services and offices. The project aspires to bring together various needs and users to allow for the community’s potential to unwrap. Social role of the architecture and the urban planning by allowing space to blossom and give more purpose to a place with positive growth and free expression of the local communities. Corner of a neighbourhood turned in a new attractive pole. The entrance to the neighboughood is located at the top end of Rue Navez, along the railway tracks.
The site is principally occupied by businesses and is part of Brussels city council. However the top angle of the site, facing boulevard Lambermont is part of Schaerbeek council. The council have raised their interest in having a key building highlighting the entry into Schaerbeek.
This project is part of a series of collective and individual projects revolving around the study and development of the site on Rue Navez in a dense urban setting. The first stage in the upgrading and development of the area involved landscape design for the integration of the scheme in its neighbourhood.
Study of landscape, community and its people, the relationship of the site with the railway tracks, existing social housing and mixed-use projects. Development of scheme in attempt to comprehend the site and community and to have a positive impact. Introduction to local planning policies and development legislation on various aspects.
